MEET THE ARTISTS

Fabiana Espinoza Chaves

“I was heavily exposed to the value of nature and the influence humans have on the environment because I was born and raised in Costa Rica. My primary goal in taking pictures is to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our environment, specifically our fauna. I really think that knowing equates to caring and that’s what my photographs are all about. I believe that if I can help even a small number of people learn about these animals' existence I am supporting their protection and preservation!”

DJ Andres In Progress

“I’m a self-taught DJ who started during the Covid-19 pandemic after being bored in my room for so long. I’ve always loved electronic music and DJing allowed me to connect with my creative side while keeping the music that i love fresh and new. As a novice DJ, I’m excited to share some of my proudest work at this event. One of my dreams was to create a mix and now I have a deadline to motivate me to work towards that goal.”

Quyen Nguyen

“I design and draw characters with a heavy focus on color values and composition. I mostly create original works for my own characters or commissions for clients. I took a note from impressionist artists like Claude Monet and started on big details like values and silhouette before going in on details. It’s really reignited my creative spark because it puts less pressure on getting things perfect from the start. My main focus when i create art is fulfilling my desire to see my characters and ideas envisioned and solidified. My biggest dream has always been having an animated show so the act of drawing them down and perfecting their shapes, expressions, and color is a creative and cathartic way for me to realize that dream. I want people to be able to recognize my characters and my work from just the colors used or the shapes made.”

iSAIAH fLORES

“My name is Isaiah Flores, and I am a 22 year-old visual artist, illustrator, and a sophomore at Palo Alto College. Being born and raised in San Antonio has had a big impact on my art, as well as being a 3rd generation Mexican. My medium is a mix of graphite and digital, with a focus on digital painting. 2024 saw the release of my debut series “ Solitude Sober”. That series of paintings went on to change my life, with “Heart Life and Lungs” getting into my first gallery in Austin, at Riches Art Gallery for Hispanic Heritage Month the same year. That piece is iconic to me, and earned recognition across the city, and even a feature in my schools magazine. What shaped me the most as an artist was when a people related to my art and felt seen by it. One person bought one of my pieces for their friend to congratulate them on a full year of sobriety. It made my journey worth it.”

Corben Jimenez

“I’m a full time tattoo artist specializing in folky/American traditional inspired style, I’m a dumpster diver, antique enthusiast, junker, and a mixed media artist. Fairly recently I’ve experienced a death of my mentor in tattooing. With that has brought a heavy dose of reality, anxiety, and a deep focus in self reflection. Ever since he’s passed I feel my art has developed further because of that. Visually and even emotionally some pieces have become deeper and have even reflected my emotions far more than before. I never want to make the viewer conform to my idea of a main message, I feel that’s the beauty of art and expression. With art the viewer can develop their own connection to a piece, even connect with their own personal feelings/experiences, and develop their own unique personal message."

ANTONIO GOMEZ

“I do paint using medias such Acrylic, oil, watercolor, digital Photo Manipulation and more. As a kid, going to my Father's tiles factory playing with the colors helped shape me as an artist. I hope my work can allow people to get transported to another dimension and provoke a feeling of peace and calm.”

ZION RANGEL

“I produce electronic music and DJ with a focus on blending electronic with trap and mainstream pop. There are moments I’ve felt closer to some kind of higher power or purpose when traveling or with loved ones and within that i’ve felt that through art something be explained that’s hard to encapsulate with words. A web of connection between all humans that we cannot see and illusions preventing us from that connection. Feeling that interconnectedness is what drives me to create. i hope people see my work and are reminded of what it means to be human”

Jose Morales

“I am a visual and performing artist. Photography is my favorite way to capture fleeting moments in time as all things are ephemeral. I treat the framing of a photograph like the staging of a show; the borders of a camera compare to the proscenium of a theater. Lighting and composition function similarly in both arts, and I find that my endeavors in one inspire the craft of the other.”

DANIEL CAMPOS

“My name is Daniel Campos, I’m a Colombian filmmaker, storyteller, and visual artist based in San Antonio, Texas. Specializing in writing, directing, editing, and cinematography, I’m proud of the fact that I often take on multiple roles in my projects because I believe in taking full creative ownership of my vision. I earned my Digital Video and Cinema Production degree from Northwest Vista College and now I’m studying Film and Media Studies at UTSA. I’ve been building my creative path from the ground up since I was around eight years old and haven’t looked back a single day. I want people to walk away from my work feeling something real. Whether it is discomfort, empathy, reflection, or that lingering chill you get after watching something that hits too close to home, I want my films to leave an impact. I do not make films to entertain. I want to challenge people, to pull them into a story and make them question something about themselves, about others, and about the world around them.”

JACKSUN

“I am an artist, and the main service I provide through my art is murals. I still make drawings. I still make paintings. I still make prints. Technically these are services I do provide, but when it comes to meeting clients and collectors. I sell murals more than anything. Art is intrinsically human, so it should exist alongside humanity. It should be on every street corner, in every shop, on every house, and every building. Murals amplify the creativity and artistic nature of our humanity, so the more that there are, the more that people are inspired to create. Expressive communities are more healthy and more connected, so we need more expressive infrastructure. It only helps us move in a positive direction. So when people ask me, what do I do? My most simple answer is I try to make the world more beautiful. And I try to exemplify beauty where it is normally overlooked.

Salome Joyas

“I make sculptures and paintings, in my Sophomore year of high school I enrolled in to North East School of the Arts, NESA for short. NESA is a fine arts school that teaches on a college level. I was what my fellow students called a double major, Majoring in Cinematography and Visual Arts. Though I have been doing art for much longer than that, and many people in my family also do art. When I was little I looked up to my older sister who was also into art, so me and her would sit together and draw or paint. Then I did it with my grandpa, then my mom and i just realized I really enjoyed creating art with the people around me so I ended up loving art and the way I can show how I see the world and how I feel in a way others can see.”

Cedrica Dean

“I make a few different products. I handcraft different types of scrunchies (Flower! Jumbo sizes etc), Tote bags, etc. This craft has helped me learn to take everything one step at a time in everything. Which has helped me appreciate the slower way of life. For me, I am putting my heart into these products, and I only hope that others will love these products like I do.”

Jacquoline Marshall

“I love to paint, draw, sculpt, any expression that i can get my hands in. Plant motifs and organic shapes are my main mode of expression. I started my painting journey in my studies at the University of the Incarnate Word, and have grown confident in my ability to capture different aspects of manmade structures in contrast with the natural world. My goal is to elicit appreciation for nature, either for pure aesthetics or ecological reasons. To create an impression of how it feels to see a lovely plant in an unexpected place- like spotting a flower poking through a crack in the sidewalk.”

Jessica J Herrera

“It starts with an idea and from there it turns into phases and much like a cocoon to butterfly my work transforms into something more. Having been in the Comic-Con scene from fan to artist, I want to say that my style was very much shaped and inspired by what comics I read and cartoons that I watched. I hope that bold and brilliant use of my colors inspire people to be bold and bright.”

Trinidy

“I make music and surround myself in it. I feel alone a lot, music keeps me grounded to life and what’s real. I just want to make people feel anything from my music, as long as it helps them forget about whatever they got going on. Resonating with people is and will always be the long term goal.”

TODA SPOOKY

“I try to make very entertaining things currently just music and YouTube videos. My biggest forming moment is my hatred for old people and their close mindedness”

Lucas Collins

“I write because it’s the only thing that feels sane to do sometimes. I have been a practitioner of theatre since I was 8 years old (Acting, Directing, Stage Management Wardrobe, etc...), but writing has always been MY way of expressing myself and my ideas. I want my work to change how someone sees the world, or at least spark a train of thought for people to begin thinking of how the world can be changed and how they can change it, or why the world is this way and why they feel a certain way about it and how can that be changed (always for the better). I want change in the world, and that is why I want to evoke it through my art, and through myself as an ever evolving being and artist.”

OSMAR VILLEGAS

“I like to consider myself an artist in most aspects (film, writing, music, etc). The first time I competently performed music was a pretty special moment for me. I’ve performed before but not playing something of my own making. Being proud of something you make while having fun doing it is just the best feeling. Small unique art will always be superior to large professional mediocrity.

Kye Bayona

“I create from my feelings and experiences. Out of an urge or instinct. I have always drawn. I can’t help but to create. I want to always get better. I want to explore every part of this life and myself thru my art. What has shaped me as an artist is the fact that after all this time it is the one thing that I continue to stick with. It is the one thing I truly want to do. And because of that I cannot stop and I will keep pushing the limits of what I am capable of. I want people to feel the things they don’t want to feel, I want them to feel things they didn’t know they could feel, I want them to feel what I am feeling. I want them to simply see it. I want people to recognize that they are capable of anything and that if that urge and feeling is there then why not act upon it.”

Joey Yosef

“I’m a visual artist that specializes in traditional & digital paintings. In 2023 I was in a serious motorcycle accident that resulted in me losing my ability to walk for almost 2 years. Due to my injuries I lost my job, my apartment and many relationships. All of my worldly possessions had to be sold to keep afloat and I was in an extreme amount of medical debt. To cope with the physical pain and mental anguish I threw myself into my art work like never before. For over a year straight, I swallowed all kinds of meds every 4-6 hours, studied the Bible and made art everyday. I found myself creating at a level I only ever dreamed of and started gaining some traction on social media. Fast forward another year, I’ve learned to walk again, got my mind right, and became apart of a beautiful community of local artists in San Antonio. Before all of this happened I never took my artwork seriously or even had a purpose in life. But through my suffering, I found what I was truly good at. I finally found my purpose. All the glory is to God. I hope people see through my work and realize that suffering can be meaningful. You can utilize it to help others. Be of service. When I create my art it’s from the suffering I’ve endured. But the only way I endured it was through love.

Jason martinez

“I am a filmmaker, videographer, and photographer among many other things. My passion is in sharing stories and doing work that matters. My first video shoot for my current job helped shape me. I traveled out to a rural library in North Texas and interviewed a librarian about the struggles her library faces and the many wonderful things her library provides to her community. It made me want to share important stories like this that nobody is hearing. "Do work that matters."

Dillon Caraveo

“I'm an aspiring filmmaker, drawn to telling stories that excite, entertain, and maybe even share a laugh. I started out making silly little videos with my friends and family and posting them on YouTube as a kid. My creative journey is a bit dysfunctional and instinct-driven - making stuff on shoestring budgets, experimenting with trial and error, but trusting my gut and diving into an idea I'm passionate about, rather that trusting my inner critic. At the moment, I'm less focused on honing in on a certain kind of work and more interested in exploring intriguing ideas and seeing what clicks. I hope people can take away that mindset is everything. Whether a situation feels ridiculous, hopeless, or even tragic, it really is all a matter of perspective. Our mindset can twist our reality, and if my work can get someone to laugh, cringe, or even think about it for just a little, then I've done my job.”

Andrew McBurney

“I do photography as a hobby, focusing on black and white images of city streets and lesser known sights. There wasn't really a single moment where I thought, “Hey, that would make a great picture,” and decided to make photography a hobby. But over the years, after many sights of “regular life” that I thought would make a great photo or drawing, and now having the convenience of a good camera in my phone, I make a point to pause when I see something, and take the shot. What we do in our lives, day to day, matters.”

Keivon Dickerson

“I’m an Artist who works with sculpting, painting, game and music design. Being an artist meant chasing my excitement with confidence and allowing myself to operate within the absurdity of reality. To Think with the intent to manifest and create to the best of my ability.”

Nandy HERNANDEZ

“I consider myself an artist with paint and a canvas, but I also extend my artistry with sewing and crafts. Overall, painting is my passion and it has been a part of my life forever. It’s not only a hobby for me, but a true identification of who I am. Growing up as a quiet kid, art was my form of escape into my own world. Art is not just for the eyes of others, but chicken noodle soup for the artist’s soul.”

Yseña Rodriguez

“Hello! My name is Yseña Rodriguez and I’m a multi media artist. I gravitate towards themes of reflecting on my personal life experiences within my art. Most of my work is self reflection and healing the inner child. I’ve always had a calling for art, I was introduced to art at a very young age and to express that part of myself. Once I graduated highschool, I knew I had to continue to explore the art world and to not let my dream go of being an artist. Now being a full time artist and getting my foot in the door of pursuing art in college and continuing to do so, is very ambitious of me. I keep surprising myself in different ways and proud to be an artist.”
